Guys! I can’t believe I have a one-year-old! It’s been a week since her “Sweet One” first birthday and I’m still trying to get used to saying that my baby is “one”. I mean it wasn’t that long ago that I was still trying to get over the fact that I was pregnant.
And at first, I didn’t want to throw a party or anything because I didn’t want to spend the money, or put in the work. Parties are exhausting! But the more I thought about it, I decided to have a party, even a small one, would do.
I reminded myself it wasn’t about the money we were going to spend, but more about having the people we love to share on this unforgettable day.
So I decided to just invite my husbands’ immediate family that is here in Las Vegas (along with my grandparents who were here on vacation at the time).
“Sweet One” Birthday Theme
I wanted to share some of the pics from our little get together.
And I’m going to warn you now: the pictures are not the best. I took most of the pictures on Nikon. But my mom brain didn’t put the SD in it the camera. and my camera is a dinosaur, so I lost the adapter plug to it years ago and currently have no way of getting those pictures off my camera and onto my computer.
From the time Keira was about 6 months, I knew I wanted a “sweet” theme. I knew it was my one chance to pick the theme and from here on out, she would probably be verbal on what she wanted for the rest of her birthdays to come, like my other kids.
I needed to keep cost low because we have been watching our spending. I will give you the breakdown of the costs to see that I didn’t spend much at all.
I bought most of the decorations from Target because they always has the best party stuff for such an affordable price. Not to mention the quality of their items never disappoints.
Sweet one Sweets
The cake was very simple and delicious! I got it from a little family-owned bakery here in Las Vegas called “Drago Sisters.” This is their Tres Leches (Milk) cake and it’s amazing. If you haven’t tried tres leches cake, you have been missing out! It’s on the sweeter side but so so good.
The cookies were done from a friend of a friend. She had done Mila’s Frozen themed cookies for her birthday last year and I loved her work. I will probably go through her for as long as I can. If you have friends or people that you know that can bake, don’t be afraid to reach out to them! I’m sure they will be thankful for your business and you know can count on them to give you their best quality work.
The one thing I did regret is not buying a helium tank for the crown balloons. I used scotch tape to stick them up but they wouldn’t stay on my wall, and I didn’t want to use packing tape and chip my paint. So it looked weird that I had to use the string to hold it up.
